Nightfall Creature Feature
Hey guys, just saw this earlier today:
http://www.nzgamer.com/hub-pc-features-313
A Creature Feature on some of the new monsters in Nightfall. I'm totally digging the Centaurs - very cool.

I read this earlier, and I found one part really interesting. For the description for Skales and Drakes, they talk about Irontooth drakes as if theres a way to tame one.
....."A small handful of hunters who have repeatedly stalked these hunting grounds have learned the habits of these territorial ironteeth and managed to train them. Unfortunately, these hunters won't pass on their secret methods for training an irontooth, let alone sell these rare pets, so adventurers and heroes must content themselves with more typical animal companions."
I was gonna start a thread debating this excerpt, but I decided not to. What do you guys think that means?

That NPC's and enemies will likely have some Irontooth Drakes as pets, but players can't. It's pretty clear.

It's a press release so it's not "from" IGN.
I was thinking the same thing, Cloudpiercer. But I think the second part in what you quoted kinda nulifies the possibility. Would be pretty neat if there was a quest which gave you a skill, or ability, to tame fiercer animals/creatures.

During the preview there was a hermit and with him there was an Iron Tooth Drake...at first they where "friendly" NPCs but if u stayed in thier aggro range too long they turned on you. I kept trying to find a ranger to go and see if they could charm the thing before it "turned" but no one wanted to....sigh :P

Woo, thanks for the link to the Creature Feature. It gave me something interesting to do while I was supposed to be in class ^_^
I really like the character model of those Heket (frog-men). Wonder if they've got any relation to Frog? :P

^ The plant is a new kind of wand. I found one during the preview.
All the creatures look really well designed. We'll see how they play out once Nightfall arrives.

Actually Bioware, “Jade Empire” did the whole Toad Demon thing if I recall (but the ones in Nightfall seem more diverse anyways). I’m really looking forward to some of the Desolation and Realm of Torment creatures (even though they were not touched up here).

Huh I thought we had centaurs? Looking at the 'new' ones...
Ok they just seem to be the ones from chp1 re-skinned, no?
As for frogs/toads, a lot of games use them, you have EQ's Froglocks too.
I like the treatment but yeah, regrettably there isn't a lot new/original here.
Mandragor... yeah I was hoping for a devourer replacement/more pop-up :b
Honestly I hope we don't have the insane pop-up/enemy run-over we had in chapter 2. I'd say make the mobs/AI more challenging, not simply throw 2-3-4 groups at us at once and make 'non-stop mob spam' a replacement for smart challenges. Guess we'll see.
Hmm that didn't do much for me but I'm more keying on the new features and the challenge rather than the particulars about a new coat of paint.
